Yesterday saw me configuring a lot of static DHCP addresses (what an oxymoron) for unofficial servers on the Linuxcare network. A large amount of DNS rewriting was required as well, though reverse DNS is still broken.
Apart from that, outstanding printer issues were one of the chief thorns in my side, although most of these have now been resolved. There was some Samba weirdness caused by a Red Hat box having been converted to Debian, but that was soon fixed.
All in all, yesterday was a great day. It was extremely hectic and people were making a lot of demands of me, but I work well in that kind of atmosphere, so I felt really useful and did a lot of good work. People seemed really happy with the way Rob, Steph and I handled the IT side of the move, which is rewarding.
I’m glad most of the move is now behind us. We now have the professional look we deserve. A lot of things have happened here in recent months and this is a fresh start for all of us. I, for one, am feeling very optimistic about the future.
